People often ask me how I manage to connect so deeply with animals and achieve results that frequently surprise their human companions. The answer lies in an approach rooted in respect, patience, and a profound understanding of the energy exchange between myself and the animals I work with.
Working with animals has always kept me grounded. It’s an immensely rewarding experience, not just because of the results I see but because of the mutual trust that develops. My healing work with animals is not something that can be rushed. It’s a process that evolves naturally, in its own time. The most important thing for me is to demonstrate respect by never forcing myself on any animal. I let them lead the way, which fosters a deep sense of trust and understanding between us.
Respecting the Animal’s Pace
In every encounter, I give the animal the space they need to decide how and when they want to engage with me. Whether it’s a dog, horse, or cat, each animal has its own personality, preferences, and comfort level when meeting someone new. Some animals can be understandably suspicious of new people, and I acknowledge that. I never impose my presence on them; instead, I wait for them to approach me, indicating when they are ready to interact.
This waiting game can take a few minutes or even up to an hour—it’s completely up to the animal. When they do come over and touch me, that’s their way of giving me permission to begin the healing process. That’s when the real magic happens. I always think to myself, “You’re going to love this,” because I know the energy exchange that’s about to unfold will benefit them.
Animals Know What They Need
One of the things I find most fascinating is how clearly animals communicate their needs. They present themselves to me in ways that indicate which part of their body needs healing. For example, there was a pony I used to treat regularly, and each time I walked into her stable, she would immediately back up and present her hindquarters to me. It was her way of telling me she needed me to work on releasing tension in the back of her legs. After I had done that, she would shift, offering the next part of her body that needed attention.
What made these sessions even more delightful was the pony’s insistence on when the treatment should end. She would stand in front of the stable door, blocking my exit, until she was completely satisfied with the work I had done. I couldn’t help but smile every time. It’s these little moments that remind me of how strong the bond between humans and animals can be, and how intuitive they are about their own needs.
The Energy of Healing
My belief is that animals can sense healing energy—they feel my intention and recognise that I’m there to help. This connection, based on mutual understanding, leads to some remarkable outcomes. It’s not uncommon for the human companion of the animal to express surprise at their pet’s behaviour during our sessions. “They don’t usually like men,” or “They don’t usually do that,” are comments I often hear. These observations reflect the deep emotional connection that forms during the healing process.
It’s a rewarding experience not just for me, but also for the human involved, especially if they’ve been struggling emotionally while caring for a sick or elderly pet. When they see their animal relax into the session or behave in a way that’s out of character, it brings them a sense of relief and joy.
Cats and Their Unique Approach to Healing
Working with cats, on the other hand, is often a different experience. Cats are known for their independence and strong-willed nature. In my sessions with them, I’ve learned to respect their boundaries even more. A cat will usually let me do just enough to ease their discomfort or release tension, but once they’ve had enough, I get “the look.” That unmistakable expression says, “We’re done here,” and I know that’s my cue to wrap up.
Despite their more aloof nature, cats also respond to healing energy in their own way. Their ability to communicate when they’ve had enough is just as valuable a form of feedback as the pony blocking the stable door. Every animal has their own language, and part of my role is to learn how to listen to it.
Trust and Patience as the Foundation
What sets my approach apart is the deep sense of trust that develops between myself and the animals. This trust doesn’t happen overnight—it takes time and patience. But when the connection is made, it’s truly special. Every session reminds me of how interconnected we are, not just as humans but with all living beings. It’s a privilege to be able to work with these animals and help them feel better, even in small ways.
In the end, the healing process is as much about the journey as it is about the destination. Every animal I work with teaches me something new about patience, respect, and the incredible power of energy. It’s a reminder that when we open ourselves up to understanding and compassion, we can create spaces for healing that are both transformative and deeply rewarding.
